A new investment fund has emerged offering a unique path to European Union citizenship through Portugal’s golden visa program. The fund allows individuals to invest more than $500,000 indirectly in Bitcoin, making them eligible for a residence permit in Portugal. Alessandro Palombo, the co-founder and CEO of Unbound Fund, shared details about this new opportunity, highlighting it as the first fund of its kind that connects Bitcoin investment to Portugal’s citizenship program.

To qualify for the Portuguese Golden Residence Permit Program, investors must hold Bitcoin worth €500,000 (approximately $542,000) through the fund. Palombo explained that the fund’s strategy includes investing in companies that fully passively hold Bitcoin, without trying to predict market movements. Additionally, for increased stability, the fund will allocate resources to BlackRock exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This approach aims to make the investment safer and simpler for participants.

The announcement comes at a favorable time for Bitcoin, as prices have shown notable strength recently. On July 22, Bitcoin reached a high of $68,518 before experiencing some fluctuations. Despite a dip to $65,550 shortly after, the cryptocurrency’s value has recovered slightly, settling around $66,404. Market analysts suggest that Bitcoin’s recent performance could lead to further gains and even a potential rise above $72,000 if bullish trends continue. Palombo’s initiative taps into this optimistic market sentiment while providing a pathway for investors to secure EU citizenship.
