The Goldman Sachs Group reportedly announced changes in its investment banking team by appointing new senior leaders. Carsten Woehrn, a former JPMorgan Chase banker, was named as joint co-head of M&A in EMEA to strengthen the European franchise. Woehrn specialized in Infrastructure M&A at JPMorgan, focusing on healthcare, energy, and transportation deals. Additionally, Nimesh Khiroya was appointed as co-head of M&A in EMEA and will continue his role in UK Investment Banking while leading activism and shareholder advisory. Haidee Lee also returned to Goldman Sachs as global co-head of Sponsor M&A after her position as co-head of strategic investor group M&A at JPMorgan.

In a recent report by Reuters, it was highlighted that M&A volumes reached $1.6 trillion globally in the first half of the year, showing a 20% increase compared to the previous year. Equity capital market volumes also saw a 10% rise during the same period. Wall Street banks reported a stronger deal pipeline and increased investment banking activity in their quarterly earnings. Goldman Sachs Asset Management and Betterment introduced the Goldman Sachs Tax-Smart Bonds portfolio, while Goldman Sachs itself surpassed revenue and EPS expectations for the second quarter, further indicating positive growth within the company.

Goldman Sachs GS shares were trading slightly lower premarket at $485.73.
