Electric Capital co-founder Avichal Garg predicts that cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase may no longer need to mention the word “crypto” in their advertising in the next five years. He believes that people will simply know that they can buy items on Coinbase, similar to the way trading platform Robinhood is perceived. Garg, who has invested in various crypto companies, including NFT platform OpenSea and Lightning Network developer Lightning Labs, points out that the introduction of spot crypto ETFs this year has helped repair the damage done by FTX exchange. He mentions that approval from significant players in Washington, DC, and Wall Street is a positive step for the industry.

Garg also expresses his belief that the mainstream adoption of crypto will continue to grow in the coming years, with crypto becoming more integrated into various aspects of everyday life. He notes that the perception of crypto as a separate entity is evolving, and it is no longer considered an isolated industry like it was five years ago. Despite his significant online following, Garg prefers to focus on industry predictions and technological impacts of blockchain and Web3 rather than engaging in price speculation or promoting specific cryptocurrencies. He emphasizes the importance of creating lasting technological innovations, stating that durable creations are more valuable in the long run. Garg also highlights that Web3 is not solely about generating quick profits but is focused on creating lasting solutions for the future.
